Gregg Burgess has joined Arcfield, provider of government and mission support services, as president and general manager of Orion Space Solutions, its wholly owned subsidiary focused on space missions and data intelligence.
Burgess, an aerospace and defense industry veteran with over 25 years of experience, will guide a team of nearly 100 scientists and engineers and direct Orion’s growth strategy and daily operations, the company said Thursday.
“We are thrilled to welcome Gregg to the Arcfield family,” said Kevin Kelly, chairman and CEO of Arcfield and a 2024 Wash100 Award winner. “His extensive background in space systems architecture design, program management, and national security, science and weather mission operations make him an ideal fit to lead Orion into the future.”
Who Is Gregg Burgess?
Before joining Arcfield, Burgess served as vice president and general manager of the Space Systems Division at General Atomics Electromagnetics Systems Group.
Prior to General Atomics, he held the roles of chief technology officer and vice president at SNC.
Earlier in his career, he was appointed to the position of senior vice president and general manager of national security space at Orbital Sciences Corp.
Burgess has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He succeeds Chad Fish, who will move into the position of vice president of strategy and chief technology officer for Orion. Fish will help shape long-term planning, advance technical innovation and support mission partners.
