AV has appointed Johnathan Jones, a defense executive, as senior vice president of cyber and mission solutions, or CMS.

The defense technology company rebranded from AeroVironment to AV following its acquisition of defense technology firm BlueHalo in May.

AV said Thursday Jones will oversee the strategic direction and operations of CMS to strengthen AV’s cyber and national security capabilities in support of U.S. government and defense customers.

“Johnathan has consistently demonstrated the leadership and operational expertise required to take AV to the next level,” said Trip Ferguson, president of space, cyber and directed energy at AV. “His deep understanding of our customers’ missions combined with his proven record inside AV makes him the right leader to strengthen and grow this critical business area.”

Jones said he looks forward to working with AV’s leadership team and workforce to support customers and their missions.

“As the intelligence community and defense industry continue to evolve and adapt to emerging threats, AV remains focused on collaboration, adaptability, and delivering asymmetric advantages to our customers through our dedicated CMS group,” the U.S. Air Force veteran noted.
