RTX business Raytheon has received a U.S. Navy contract modification worth about $216.4 million for the development and procurement of special tooling and special test equipment to boost the Standard Missile-6 all-up round production capacity.
The Department of Defense said Thursday Naval Sea Systems Command obligated $136.1 million in fiscal 2024 weapons procurement funds at the time of award.
Work will occur in Arizona, Colorado, Massachusetts, Georgia, Tennessee and other locations through September 2029.
The Navy awarded the modification under a potential $1 billion multiyear procurement contract awarded in 2019 for SM-6 full-rate production requirements, round design agent and spares.
SM-6 Missile
SM-6 can perform anti-air warfare, anti-surface warfare and ballistic missile defense missions.
According to Raytheon, the weapon system is deployable on 60 surface ships and enables the U.S. and its allies to increase the offensive might of surface forces.
The company has delivered more than 500 SM-6 missiles to the Navy.
