Battelle has elected retired U.S. Navy Adm. Craig Faller and healthcare industry executive Adele Gulfo to its board of directors.
“We are honored to welcome Craig and Adele to our board,” said Lou Von Thaer, president and CEO of Battelle and a 10-time Wash100 winner. “Their leadership and diverse expertise will help guide Battelle’s mission to solve the world’s most pressing challenges through science and technology.”
Who Are Battelle’s New Board Members?
Faller previously served as the commander of the U.S. Southern Command, overseeing military operations in Latin America and the Caribbean. His career also includes roles as senior military assistant to the secretary of defense, Navy chief legislative officer, director of operations at U.S. Central Command and commander of the John C. Stennis Strike Group.
He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a master’s degree in national security affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School. Since retiring, he has joined the boards of Huntington Ingalls Industries, Viken Detection and Sigma Defense Systems.
Gulfo has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biopharma industries. She most recently led the biopharma commercial unit at Sumitomo Pharma America as CEO, managing a portfolio valued at more than $1.2 billion across oncology, neurology, urology, rare diseases and women’s health.
Her previous positions include leadership roles at Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Roivant Sciences and Viatris. She serves on the boards of Enpro Industries, Tyra Biosciences and NewAmsterdam Pharma.
