Safran Defense & Space Inc. has appointed Christopher Keeler, a space and defense industry leader, as president of its space solutions division

Safran DSI said Thursday Keeler will lead the company’s U.S. space business, including spacecraft propulsion systems, onboard communications, space domain awareness and ground systems.

In this capacity, he will oversee growth initiatives and advance the production of small satellites at the company’s new Space Hub in Parker, Colorado, which opened in April. The hub is working on its production line to qualify, validate and kick off U.S. deliveries of advanced space systems.

Joe Bogosian, president and CEO of Safran DSI, said Keeler’s experience in strategic planning, customer engagement and risk management positions him to accelerate the company’s U.S. presence.

“His experience will be instrumental as we continue to expand our Space Hub offerings to our valued customers,” Bogosian added.

Keeler brings to Safran DSI over 25 years of leadership experience in the space and defense sectors, with a track record of operational transformation, profit-and-loss growth and international business development.

He most recently served as vice president of space systems at General Dynamics Mission Systems, leading satellite and mission programs for government and commercial clients. His industry career included senior leadership positions at Northrop Grumman and Orbital ATK.

The Oregon State University mechanical engineering graduate holds a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the University of Washington.

Keeler said he is honored to join Safran DSI.

“Safran’s commitment to advancing U.S. manufacturing and enabling space technologies that protect and empower our nation deeply resonates with me. The work underway in Parker, Colorado and across the country is shaping the future of resilient, responsive space systems,” he added.
