Home Contract Awards SRI Lands $99M DLA Contract for Advanced Microcircuit Emulation Program Support
SRI International has secured a Defense Logistics Agency contract worth approximately $98.6 million contract to provide research and development support for DLA’s Advanced Microcircuit Emulation, or AME, program.
According to a SAM.gov award notice published Monday, the indefinite-delivery, cost-plus-fixed-fee requirements contract has a five-year base term with a four-month option period.
Work will be performed in New Jersey and is expected to conclude by the end of January 2031.
The DLA Weapons Support in Columbus, Ohio, is the contracting activity and will obligate funds at the delivery order level as contracting actions occur. Fiscal 2026 through 2031 research, development, test and evaluation funding will be used to finance the sole-source contract.
In July 2024, SRI received a $126 million contract from DLA Land and Maritime to support the Generalized Emulation of Microcircuits, or GEM, program.
What Is the AME Program’s Objective?
According to the attached justification and approval document, the AME program is a research and development effort that ensures the capability to produce microcircuits that are no longer commercially available. This includes design, reverse engineering, fabrication, manufacturing and testing of microcircuits.
The program also validates developed AME Form, Fit, Function and Interface, or F3I, reverse engineering to prepare for transition to the GEM program. Once ready for production, the capability transitions to the GEM program through a contract modification.
To date, the AME and GEM programs have completed more than 2,200 insertion tests that support more than 560 weapons systems across the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marine Corps, ensuring continued warfighter readiness across ground and maritime applications. Technologies developed include advanced digital devices, memory, microprocessors and microcontrollers, hybrid devices, linear and analog devices and other assemblies.
What Are SRI’s Responsibilities Under the Contract?
Under the DLA contract, SRI will continue to deliver services under the AME program statement of work.
Responsibilities include validating existing F3I reverse engineering and emulation technologies; developing additional AME capabilities, including contractor-acquired government furnished equipment purchases; and supporting AME developmental technology.
