Home Executive Moves Former NORTHCOM, NORAD Commander Glen VanHerck to Join D-Fend’s Advisory Board
Retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Glen VanHerck, the former commander of U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command, is joining the advisory board of counter-drone technology company D-Fend Solutions, according to information received by GovCon Wire.
“I am passionately committed to supporting and promoting the adoption of D-Fend’s advanced, safe, and much-needed counter-drone solutions in order to strengthen national security and homeland defense,” VanHerck said. “I look forward to partnering with D-Fend and helping them stay at the forefront of addressing today’s threats, and those of tomorrow.”
D-Fend Solutions is scheduled to announce VanHerck’s appointment later today.
What Expertise Does VanHerck Bring?
VanHerck retired from the Air Force in 2024 after a distinguished career in national defense leadership. As head of USNORTHCOM and NORAD, he was responsible for safeguarding the U.S. homeland and North American airspace, overseeing joint operations to protect critical infrastructure and coordinate multi-agency defense.
His prior roles included serving as director of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon and commander of the USAF Warfare Center at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
Why Is VanHerck’s Appointment Significant?
VanHerck’s addition to the advisory board comes amid increasing drone threats.
With his experience safeguarding North American airspace and critical infrastructure, he will support the company’s efforts to advance its non-kinetic, non-jamming counter-drone technology to protect sensitive sites, people and critical infrastructure.
“We are thrilled to welcome General VanHerck to our Advisory Board,” stated Zohar Halachmi, CEO and chairman of D-Fend Solutions. “His operational leadership, strategic defense experience, and firsthand understanding of modern aerial threats, attributes that have earned him the trust of the highest echelons of U.S. defense and security, bring invaluable perspective to our team.”
How Does D-Fend Solutions Address Drone Threats?
D-Fend Solutions provides radio frequency cyber-takeover technology, which enables control, safety and continuity during rogue drone incidents across complex and sensitive environments. Its core offering, EnforceAir, autonomously executes RF cyber-takeovers of rogue drones for safe landings and controlled outcomes. This technology is deployed by top-tier U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. military, federal law enforcement and homeland security, as well as major international airports globally.
