The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has awarded six companies positions on a five-year, $800 million time-and-materials, firm-fixed-price blanket purchase agreement for software engineering services to support the modernization of the National Background Investigation Services.

According to award notices published on the Federal Procurement Data System, the selected contractors include:

What Is the NBIS?

The NBIS is the federal government’s unified IT system for managing the entire personnel vetting process, including initiation, application, background investigation, adjudication and continuous vetting. It is designed to strengthen data security, enhance user experience and streamline data integration across agencies.

The NBIS electronic application, or eApp, and NBIS Agency portals replace the legacy eQIP system as the new platforms for initiating and managing background investigations. eApp is a user-friendly, single-page tool that helps federal applicants and employees fill out investigative standard forms needed for background checks, while NBIS Agency enables security managers to process background applications and oversee investigation requests.
