Tanya Pemberton, a 30-year industry veteran, has been appointed president and CEO of Aerospace Corp., effective Oct. 18.
The advanced national space capabilities company said Thursday Pemberton will succeed Steve Isakowitz, who will retire after nine years of leadership. Pemberton steps into the role with extensive experience in government and industry. She will lead Aerospace as it focuses on meeting the evolving needs in space enterprise and ensuring the company supports national priorities, including layered missile defense, space warfighting and space exploration.
“Tanya brings extensive experience with Aerospace’s customers and their missions, as well as a continued focus on the critical role of space-based capabilities in staying ahead of emerging threats and keeping our nation safe,” said Paul Selva, chair of Aerospace’s Board of Trustees.
Pemberton’s Tenure at Aerospace
Pemberton spent the previous two years as Aerospace’s executive vice president, working with Isakowitz to lead over 4,800 personnel responsible for fast-tracking the development of advanced national security technologies. She drove the company’s mission and integration strategy across the enterprise and provided technical support to federal partners. Pemberton also served as senior vice president of the National Systems Group, spearheading the strategic initiatives for the national security space and intelligence sectors.
Pre-Aerospace Career
Pemberton spent over 20 years in the intelligence sector. She was the chief information officer and director of IT services for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and held various senior executive positions at the National Reconnaissance Office.
