The U.S. Air Force has awarded Northrop Grumman the potential $972 million firm-fixed-price, time and materials Air Force Modeling and Simulation support services, or AFMS3, contract.

Air Force Modeling and Simulation Contract Scope

The Department of Defense said Monday the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract covers maintenance services supporting the secure, interoperable and efficient modeling and simulation capabilities of the Department of the Air Force, DOD and external partner agencies. Work for the fixed-price incentive and cost reimbursable deal will be conducted in and outside the continental U.S., and is set to be completed by Sept. 14, 2030.

The cost-plus-fixed-fee contract was awarded by the Air Force District of Washington Contracting Directorate at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, following a competitive acquisition process that resulted in four bids. Under the initial task order, the AFDW/PK will obligate $1.9 million from fiscal 2025 operation and maintenance funds at the time of award.

AFMS3 2.0 Contract

In October 2020, SAIC received the potential $737 million AFMS3 2.0 contract from the Air Force to implement, integrate and develop modeling and simulation capabilities. The company will also guide the Air Force Agency for Modelling and Simulation, or AFAMS, in developing policies, architectures and standards supporting emerging technologies.
