Are you excited about the new budget approved for 2025?

As we live through the first 100-days, some may say “survive the first 100-days”, a major event occurred last Friday… a budget was approved for the rest of the fiscal year.  This is huge news.  The question in front of us now is, “Now what?”

We are almost ½ way through the fiscal year.  Even with the new DOGE organization looking under rocks for waste, (I don’t really like the phrase fraud and abuse) each Department and Agency of the government has a few weeks to review their needs and finalize their procurement strategy for the year… now that there is a budget.  One thing you can be sure of is that each agency wants to spend what they can… they all have needs.

With this in mind, I am projecting that we will experience one the largest 2H spends in the history of our government.  We will most likely finish the 1H2025 at a spending level of 40% or so; that means that 60% will remain on the books to be spent.  Even if the agency spends ¼ of their 2025 budget in Q3, that leaves 35% to be spent in Q4.  This will be a record breaking quarter for sure.

What should you do in the next few weeks? I say two things:  Ensure that as much as possible you should align your services with the focus of the administration.  Secondly, have you heard that the GSA MAS might be getting a big bump in use? With that in mind, in the next few weeks, during the quiet period while you align with the new Administration, expand your GSA MAS contract.  That is, if you don’t have one, get one; if you have one, add a SIN.
